My pilgrimage: the via de la Plata

Well, I leave tomorrow for Sevilla, Espana, and plan to start walking the via de la Plata to Santiago de Compostela (1,000km) on Friday. My rucksack is packed with a gross weight of 8.5kg. (By the time I add water and food that will increase by another 1.5kg.) My target was 8.0kg but it’s not realisable unless I buy an ultra-light sleeping bag and that’s not feasible, at this time. So, what’s my concern. Age! I will turn 71 in April, and I have to be realistic about my declining capacity to tramp across Spain with a rucksack that weighs 10.0kg.

Wish me Buen Camino!
