Keep the populace alarmed and hence clamorous to be led to safety

07/02/2014

During the build up to the Iraq War in the 1990s the media paraded the story of babies being killed by Iraqi soldiers removing them from incubators after the invasion of Kuwait. The story came from the testimony a woman by the name of Nayirah gave to the Congressional Human Rights Caucus. Amnesty International picked up on the story and it was soon seen as one of the reasons we should attack Iraq. It was revealed that Nayirah was the daughter of Saud bin Nasir Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti ambassador to the United States and that her testimony had been organized by a public relations campaign connected to the Kuwaiti government.

The “war on terrorism” is a fabrication based on the illusion that one man, Osama bin Laden, outwitted the $40 billion-a-year American intelligence apparatus. Rather, the “war on terrorism” is a war of conquest. Globalisation is the final march to the “New World Order,” dominated by Wall Street and the US military-industrial complex.

I opposed the Bush/Cheney invasion of Iraq. I knew Bush and Blair were lying about the Downing Street Memo. 11 September 2001 provides a justification for waging a war without borders. Washington’s agenda consists of extending the frontiers of the US Empire to facilitate complete corporate control, while installing within the US the institutions of the Homeland Security State.

I demonstrated against many of the undeclared, unconstitutional wars that the US and its allies waged over the last 40 years. Mainstream media consistently distributes disinformation (or is that misinformation) to push the war agendas of the very institutions of power that keep them on the air. Time and time again, we have seen how deceptive reports have sent the West headlong into conflicts: Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria… the list is long and growing. Talk about easily justifying endless wars for profit and aggression that can be blamed on anybody you want. Another perfect catch all… and in the name of “defence” and “national security” anything can be exercised… and, in addition, they’re doing just about everything to strip people of their rights and personal freedoms.

People are poisoned by systematic lies: War on Poverty and War on Drugs and those other bogus programmes. It’s mainly to keep the war paradigm front and centre… us against them, and as in 1984, it doesn’t matter who “them” is. The war industry must keep it’s generational continuity. Many media portals proclaim to have real, legitimate news, yet their newscasts are imbued with spin. Today, more than ever before, war depends on deception. To oppose war without seeing through the deceptions currently being practiced by governments is to act in vain. The mainstream media is unable or refuses to challenge these myths and deceptions.

Only those media that are independent (no funding from governments, foundations or institutions and exist solely on account of the contribution of its readership) are likely to tell the truth, and even then not always. People have to be awake. Wake up. Your own government uses fear and intimidation in order to push an agenda. Enter “the terrorism threat.” Are people really under constant threat of being killed by terrorists? No, we’re not—though governments would like for us to think so.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.[1]

How much do you trust your government?
How much do you trust the official narrative peddled by the establishment?
How much do you trust that the powers that be have our best interests at heart?

I offer here some real alternatives to the nasty vicious mainstream media:
