Propaganda: Counter insidious propaganda techniques

30/10/2013

I begin by stating that I’m shy of the multi-levelled capability of the all powerful arcane, interconnected world of multinational corporations, government departments, think tanks and collectives to exert power over the flow of information of the dominant mainstream culture and its propaganda arms. There, I’ve said it. Propaganda involves Them (the rulers) telling Us what to think or how to behave.

Think about why you want to own a house. You think “renting is flushing money down the toilet.” You might think “house ownership is ‘roots’ for your family.” Why do you think these things? Isn’t it suspicious to you that everyone else says the same clichés? Does it make sense at all that there is a big industry that wants you to own a house? Banks, the government, home builders, furniture makers, real estate agents, etc are all the priests and ministers of that religion. Don’t you think a part of that big industry’s profit goes into hammering again and again the marketing message that you need to own a house? This is about hypnosis. Why we believe, at the bottom of our hearts, the things that are told to us that have such obvious agendas.

Propaganda is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position. As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda, in its most basic sense, presents information primarily to influence an audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda. Propaganda can be used as a form of political warfare. The use of the word ‘hero’ glorifies war and glosses over the ugly reality. War is nothing like a John Wayne film. There is nothing heroic about being blown up in a vehicle, there is nothing heroic about being shot in an ambush and there is nothing heroic about the deaths of countless civilians. Calling our soldiers heroes is an attempt to stifle criticism of the wars we are fighting in. It leads us to that most subtle piece of propaganda: You might not support the war but you must support our heroes, ergo you support the war. It is revealing that those few people who send our forces to war and those that spread war propaganda are the ones who choose to wear poppies weeks in advance of Armistice Day.

I keep well away from mainstream news in its various guises and the reason for my resistance is highlighted by this brief exploration of the propaganda surrounding recent “shocking” revelations that Australian athletes were taking performance enhancing drugs and asylum seekers attempts to reach Australia by “rickety” boats.

The use of banned performance-enhancing drugs in sport(s) is commonly referred to as doping, by those organisations that regulate competitions. The use of drugs to enhance performance is considered unethical by sports organizations and the International Olympic Committees (IOC). The reasons are the: 1) alleged health risks of performance-enhancing drugs; 2) the equality of opportunity for athletes; 3) and the alleged exemplary effect of “clean” (“doping-free”) sports for the public.

I dismiss the concern for athlete health and the equal opportunity principle. Rather, the concern seems primarily focused on the public’s reaction to the shattered image of a squeaky-clean sport. Why should that bother the elite? Simple. The public may turn away from sporting events and that would affect the bottom line, and lessen their capacity to manipulate and control the public.

Turn on the evening news, it’s dominated by sport. Nothing becomes manifest until the media endorses it. Nothing is real to most people until they get the mainstream word on it. People depend on the mainstream story, made up statistics, spin, illusions and omissions like it’s their life! Until they get that signal they’re not sure what to think.

You will note that the mainstream news story concerning asylum seekers is identical in every detail to that of doping. The reasons given are: 1) alleged risks associated with rickety boats on the high seas; 2) the equality of opportunity for asylum seekers; 3) and the alleged exemplary effect of “genuine” asylum seekers for the Australian public.

Thus the use of propaganda surrounding doping and asylum seekers is focused on the ballot box to maintain power and regain power. The first mechanism of control over a society is to induce uncertainty and fear. I’m guided by H.L. Mencken,

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Corporate-government-influenced TV and radio stations sell fear, hour after hour, day after day. Everything is presented as a threat. Why is that? Why is the mainstream media selling perpetual uncertainty, violence, and fear? Fear disempowers people, it scrambles their brains, it causes individuals to panic and lose their power of reasoning. All mainstream news is tainted, it’s designed for you to give away your power, stability and mental health.

I hold a fervour about never trusting the authorities or the mainstream media. I dismiss their world as agenda-oriented, one that is bent and manipulated to spout the party line for political and financial reasons. I don’t bother with TV news or newspapers. They are mind-control mechanisms that manufacture consent for the status quo.

Democracy and freedom and the hopes and dreams of ordinary people are been sold down the river. It’s all part of a pretext that they are defending us from something. In fact, we need protection from them. Our leaders are ghouls, they only pretend to care for us; whereas power and money is their game. They have sold out to genetic engineering, war machines, black projects, oil interests, fiscal control, big bankers, and rabid, manic control. All for personal gain and a moment of power, and because they are too weak to stand up to the nefarious tide, and to say, “no” on behalf of the nations entrusted in their care. Countries like the United Kingdom and Australia are run by puppets kowtowing to whatever the US controllers require. Pathetic.

I hope that this article helps you to counter these insidious propaganda techniques to which we are all constantly exposed.
