Good health is a function of politics, engineering, and personal behaviour

25/09/2012

Go ahead, ask anyone, anyone at all about health, a general question. To what do you attribute good health? I guarantee the answers will be dominated by medicine—health is something caused by physicians and drugs. Now, how is that possible? How is it possible that people predominately attribute good health to the mechanistic medical model and big pharma? Propaganda, that’s what. Effective propaganda at that! Actually the reverse is true. Good health is a function of politics, engineering, and such like, and above all else personal behaviour. (Politics and engineering provide the landscape of the world we live in.)

I’m not suggesting that the mechanistic medical model and big pharma has no place in our lives. It does. For example, emergency medicine is a specialty for patients with acute illnesses or injuries which require immediate medical attention.

We are personally responsible for our health, in no small measure. Rather a large measure! We are all authorities when we are absolutely sure of what we’re doing. We need to stand on our own two feet, walk with our own legs, like when walking on pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela or Rome or Jerusalem.
