Australia’s military role in Afghanistan

ABC1 Insiders Sunday 2 September 2012
The panellists discussed Australia’s military role in Afghanistan.

Brian Toohey is a columnist with the Australian Financial Review, the Sun Herald, and The West Australian. My transcript:

If we are going to learn anything from the disasters of the last 50 years in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan it should be that model failed politically, socially, militarily, ethically. The era has gone when predominantly white, predominantly European, predominantly Christian armies can stampede around the world invading countries their governments either don’t like or want to change. Without exception wars lead to injustice and depravity.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. ~Albert Einstein
